Bodyworker Check-in.
You know more than anyone that body language provides the deepest response to our life’s challenges and choice points.
While our body doesn’t always offer the “correct” answer, we can still gauge direction and need for support with signals felt.
I created this brief check-in just for bodyworkers, so you can reflect on where you’re at and if you’d make any changes moving forward in your practice.
As always, everything that follows is an invitation, take care, and engage in whatever way suits your capacity in this moment.
Step 1: Orient
Notice the space you’re in, and all the details down to the smallest crack in the paint on your ceiling, and the hum of your appliances, or the birds outside
Notice your feet, seat, and the shape your body is taking
Listen to the quietest voice speaking in this moment through sensation
Step 2: Body drawing
Draw a simple depiction of your body in this moment (gingerbread and stick people encouraged)
Include all the details you noticed from the orientation exercise
include colors, movements, shapes, energies, etc.
Step 3: Journal Prompt
On the same sheet of paper, reflect on the following questions and wait for your body’s response before your brain takes over
How am I feeling about the balance of time and effort spent on my work?
Does my practice take up the majority of my attention, even on days off?
How am I feeling about the location I provide my work within?
How do I feel overall about my client base? Are these the people I want to serve long term?
How am I feeling about the quality of work or modality I am currently offering?
At this moment, is there another offering that lingers in the background that I want to bring to life?
Step 4: Reflect
Include any details you noticed in the journal prompts on your body drawing, and take that whole picture in
Notice what urge or impulse comes next
Wonder what support you might need to make any changes
Step 5: Land
Extend your attention back into your room and notice the details that stand out in this moment, after checking in
