Zephyr
It’s not enough for me to sell a body oil, I also want to to tell you its stories and the processes taken throughout creation. I know I am personally drawn towards learning a creative process and relationship with all the gathered pieces, maybe you are too. I so enjoyed spending time with the plants that went into the making of this oil. I hope this comes through in my words, and that in sharing, you might know this oil, and me, a bit more.
As a body based product, Zephyr is carried in apricot kernel oil and infused within milk oolong tea, orange peel and oil. This all gives Zephyr its slight orange creamsicle scent that smells like my childhood summers. I have a very specific memory of eating a creamsicle while looking out the window of my home, thinking “I want to eat nothing else, ever again. I’ve found my food”. This years blend is also accompanied with multiflora rose, which I found growing in my garden this spring, and of course vitamin e to keep the richness alive. All of these ingredients together create an etherial blend that tonifies the body’s barrier in a tender way.
The creation of Zephyr began in the spring with sweet, multiflora rose, an invasive, yet delightful species to spend mornings with. Each day I gathered the flowers as the sun came up and bees danced around. Picture me, half asleep and singing to the bees “please for the love of all that is good, don’t sting me”. Once I collected and dried as much as needed, multiflora joined the rest of the ingredients in a jar which sat in a warm, open window for 6 weeks (except for when it was hot AF). Each morning and afternoon I would remind the contents of their air-like spirit with a gentle swirl. Once the weeks had past, and on the most perfect rainy day in June, Zephyr was ready. Seriously though, it was the most perfect day.
Beyond the benefit of topical application, the essence of this oil is quite aerial. Zephyr, like its namesake, is a gentle breeze that lifts the spirit in such a subtle way. This oil is represented by the air signs in your group of friends, most likely a gemini (the best sign, obv.). With their head in the clouds they bring whimsy, curiosity, and a lot of mental stimulation. They lift you up from the ground and into the skies with light playful engagement, and remind you that you are in fact a spirit having an earth bodied experience. Zephyr, bright and sensational, shows you what it’s like to take in joy unabashedly.
I imagine a ritual with Zephyr might look like reciting encouraging affirmations paired with gentle movement to re-energize oneself. This oil can be used when you need a nudge to reconnect with the air in your life, take in breath, and engage with your loved ones through conversation. Perhaps, if your loved one happens to be a massage therapist, they can use this oil to help you reconnect with your self through the sweet, sweet art of partner massage. However you work with Zephyr, I do hope you are taking care out there.
