Somatic Experiencing

Explore your internal experience, process your narratives, and arrive in the present with a modality aimed at integrating trauma and transforming patterns all through the body.

‍ ‍Here’s how Somatic Experiencing Institute describes this bottom-up modality:

β€œSomatic Experiencing (SEβ„’) aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems. Trauma, from an SE lens, is focused on how it shows up in the nervous system and how that dysregulation impacts life. When we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient. It is a body-oriented therapeutic model applied in multiple professions and professional settingsβ€”psychotherapy, medicine, coaching, teaching, and physical therapyβ€”for healing trauma and other stress disorders from a nervous system lens within a practitioner’s scope of practice. It is based on a multidisciplinary intersection of physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics and has been clinically applied for more than four decades. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine.”

Hello, Friend.

Welcome to Earth Body Somatics.

My name is Rachel, and I help people reconnect with their body, find resolution from trauma, and return to the self they recognize so they can live life with ease.

We may be a good fit if you’re looking for:

curious inquiry and compassionate validation

I bring my curious and playful nature into each session in hopes of finding an easeful path towards clarifying and highlighting your own inherent wisdom. I also know very well how difficult it is to dig deep and find compassion for the parts of our selves that feel like the culprit. In those moments of facing a challenge, I am right there to remind you that your body holds far more than the β€œscore”. Joy, pleasure, and ease are just waiting to be noticed.

responsive attention and trauma awareness

Your sense of safety and comfort are my top priorities. All of my offerings are aimed at tending to the nervous system with awareness of the individual’s experience, needs, and boundaries. In addition, I want to meet you where you’re at in each moment. This means we can adapt our plan to suit your needs before, during and after session. I bring various props, tools, techniques and approaches to a session so that we can create a container that looks like care, to you.

a steady presence that centers relationship

I think you might already know how incredibly important relationship is in a therapeutic space. With the right person, we feel like co-regulation is a breeze, a sense of safety might be more accessible, and we feel hopeful that we can finally settle and soften with a witness. This sense of being seen and heard, is key to our growth. I think you might also know that relationship building and growth takes time. Please know, I am here for the slow and steady.

β€œRachel is the most thoughtful practitioner I’ve had the experience of working with! It’s refreshing to find someone who integrates movement with body work, and introduces healing practices in this particular way. They are clearly knowledgeable and at the same time they are creative and kind in their work. I honestly couldn’t recommend them more.”
