Pinecone

When designing my website, I knew I wanted the logo to represent a true earth body. A body more dense than a flower, but just as beautiful. The representation of Earth Body also needed to be something I could personally resonate with as a heavy, grounded being. I don’t know if I have so much earth like qualities that I feel like a rock, but definitely more solid than soil. A tree seems like a good middle ground, but still not quite what I was looking for. Eventually, pinecone was chosen.

Let me just take a moment to tell you how amazing pinecones are. These spikey individuals come from one of the oldest species of tree that doesn’t produce fruit, rather cones. Once fully developed, the cones of the pine tree fall to the forest floor, enriched with stories of ancestors long past. This woody vessel holds the spirit of the tree tightly until the conditions are in favor of engaging in communal cultivation. When the climate is perfect, this cone opens its hardened petals to fullfill the evergreens ancient legacy. The pine cone takes its full expression in hopes of deep connection.

This reminds me of someone. Not just myself, you also. You and so many beings that expand and contract in specific conditions. We carefully carry our spirit around in a compacted earth body every day, with the hope of connection. When we feel safest, we might even begin to open our protective shell and unfurl. It’s in these safe spaces that we feel welcomed in our vulnerability, and find ease in just being.

I know these spaces are hard to come by these days, but I do hope you have them. I hope you know the experience of your fullest, unbound expression, held within a loving support circle that celebrates your expansive nature. May you know this, and remember you are inextricably linked to a pinecone, rock, tree, and flower. You are not separate from earth. You are not alone.
